It's that time of year again: Staff Appreciation!

THEME: Melinda Heights National Forest | Camp Wannateach

(Think national parks, camping, scouts, summer camp, etc)

We are going to have a ton of fun with the teachers and staff at Camp Wannateach, with special things throughout the week, and lots of yummy food and treats everyday in the staff lounge. Please see below for the fun week of activities for the staff and be sure to reach out to your classroom parent on how you can help this week!

May 5 - Happy Cinco de Mayo! The staff will hike on over to the dining hall for some walking tacos and cold drinks.

May 6 - Staff will enjoy some sweet fireside treats under the starry sky.

May 7 - Staff will wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy a hearty, lumberjack breakfast.

May 8 - Staff will enjoy a serene picnic in the great outdoors.

May 9 - Staff will sip on specialty drinks as they "float" in the water.

ASK YOUR ROOM PARENT HOW YOU CAN HELP WITH THE FOLLOWING:

DOORS:  We will begin to plan our door decorating. **Please remember if you are including the kids on the door: their first names OR their picture. Not both.

Doors need to be up and decorated on the weekend of May 3rd-May4th, OR before school begins on Monday, May 5th. NOTE: Tape can ruin the doors by peeling off the paint, especially those doors in direct sunshine/heat all day. So please plan to hang your doors by using magnetic tape or heavy duty magnets. I have a limited number of magnets available, so if you need some, please let me know.

Building doors are 7 feet. Portable doors are 3 inches shorter.

Also, there are quite a few doors in windy areas. Please note: Mrs. Penticuff, Mrs. Hay, and Mrs. Portanova may need extra magnets.

BUTCHER PAPER: Some parents feel comfortable going into the office and grabbing their own paper. Great! If you'd like me to get yours for you, please SIGN UP HERE and let me know what color(s) you need and who you're decorating for. The paper will be left at the front office with your name on it.

As always, we have more doors to decorate than just our teachers - playground supervisors, the principal, our special ed teachers, and more! Please take a look HERE and consider decorating another door (or two).

If you feel overwhelmed or pressured to do your teacher's door, and not sure how to get it done - please reach out! We have wonderful, creative moms here at Melinda Heights who are bursting with knowledge and have done this for many years and would love to help you out. We know not everyone has a cricut machine, and it's absolutely not necessary to have one to decorate a door. You are more than welcome to go into the copy room in the front office and use the die cut machines for letters and/or fun shapes. It's very helpful! Contact me if you have questions about that.

We will be having a Door Decorating Night on April 28th at 6PM in the MPR -- You may get your butcher paper at this time if you'd like, and bring your decorations & cut-outs to attach. We will have scissors and tape available, but feel free to bring your own.

Lastly, please keep an eye out for our Items Needed sign up after Spring Break. A lot goes into making this week magical, and we cannot do it without you!
